Unlock Your Leadership Potential: Embrace Self-Belief and Lead with Confidence

Tom, the Underdog

In the world of sports, where people are spoken about and celebrated around an event, the word "underdog" is used many times to speak about the work and effort that lead up to the occasion. Tom Brady is an individual who is already known as a legend, but his story is a true underdog story and it includes athleticism, discipline, and leadership.

At the 2000 NFL Combine, Brady's performance was rough and the opinions from the scouts were poor. He was slow, didn't leap very far, and overall just seemed to lag. He eventually got drafted into the NFL in the sixth round by the New England Patriots.

In the 2001 season, the starting quarterback, Drew Bledsoe, got injured and Tom Brady took over and proved himself to be a strong leader with a powerful arm. That year, with a very dominant defense, they won the Super Bowl, and many folks started to gain respect for the young quarterback. That is a story in itself.

As many of us know, he had an incredible run with the Patriots and became a legend after winning three Super Bowl titles in his first four years in the NFL. The story keeps building after Brady spent 20 years with the Patriots, winning six Super Bowl championships, and beating many records.

Brady has continued to shock the world as he gets older and continues to win. When he transferred to the Tampa Bay Bucs in 2020, leaving a great coaching staff, culture, and the overall momentum and experience of the Patriots, he became an underdog again by coming into a completely different organization and culture. Despite his age and new team members and due to his determination, leadership, and athletic abilities--Tampa Bay won a Super Bowl championship in his first year.

He has been an underdog in many aspects but continues to inspire by doing what many folks say is impossible. He has personally inspired me. He has used discipline and hard work to create his own path. That path was questioned many times, and the level of talent and physicality expected in the NFL is so high, yet Brady has defied the odds and inspired the world to question our questioning.

The Value of Believing in Yourself

Believing in your work can be the difference between moving forward and feeling stuck.

I’ve questioned myself many times about how long it’s taken to build my first venture since starting it 9 years ago…

My second venture started 8 years ago…

And my third venture started 2 years ago….

But I do see the impact.

People have been employed, lives saved and impacted, wealth created and further invested, and a lot of positive change has occurred for people, including me.

My belief has kept me going and it can do the same for you!

Invest Into Yourself By Throwing Away Perfection

We all know that no one is perfect but sometimes we look at those around us and start to believe they do everything right - they’re perfect. But that’s an illusion. Everyone has their struggle and it's time to focus on our own. Throw perfection out the window and focus on doing. You only fail if you stop trying.
